Sydney Australia

Although Sydney is the largest city in Australia, it’s not the capital.  That honour goes to Canberra.  However, Sydney is the most recognized city in Australia and is also well known throughout the world.

Although suburban, Sydney is a city of over 4 million people.  This increases every year as more people come to Sydney to experience the easy-going Australian way of life.

Because it is so popular and residents continue to stream into it every year, housing prices in Sydney are among the most expensive in Australia.  Because of this, many first-time homebuyers must purchase property far away from what has become the central business district.  Still others choose to move outside of Sydney in order to try to avoid paying increasingly expensive housing costs.

If you’re a tourist to Sydney, you’ll find plenty of attractions that will vie for your attention.  For example, in the CBD area, visit Harbour Bridge, which can be seen from various points around the city, as well as Pitt Street Mall for some wonderful shopping.  You can also visit the Opera House, the Centrepoint Tower, and the famous Central Railway Station.

If shopping is your pleasure, you can find everything from high-fashion at the Elizabeth Street boutiques to locally fun, casual and good-naturedly frantic shopping at Paddy’s Markets on Haymarket.

For still more fun, visit Darling Harbour.  Here, you can go to the Aquarium or just wander around the beautiful waters’ edge, have an ice cream, or visit IMAX.

No matter your pleasure, you’ll find something of interest in Sydney.
