The Sydney Opera House is among Sidney’s most recognized landmarks. Tourists are attracted to its distinctive design not just for the opera, but for the many other performances held there throughout the year

If you sit outside on the Opera House steps, you can enjoy the Harbour views. Many restaurants and cafés are also all around the Opera House for your eating pleasure.

In June 2007, the Sydney Opera House was appointed as a UNESCO world heritage site. Because of this, photos of the Opera House have appeared in all tourist guides and magazines. Therefore, it’s clear that the Opera House is a major Australian attraction around the world.

Recently, the Opera House has hosted performances not just by classical musicians and performers like opera singers, but popular performers like Neil Finn, the Foo Fighters and Tori Amos have also performed there. The Opera House’s incredible acoustics make it a favorite not just for the audience but for musicians as well.

To get to the Opera House, you can park in one of the parking stations nearby and walk. One wide pathway goes all the way up and around the Opera House.

If you like, you can also catch a Cityrail train to Circular Quay station and then walk to the Opera House from there. And don’t worry, you’ll never get lost, because no matter where you look, the Opera House is large enough to be seen from just about anywhere.

In short, the Opera House is a magnificent building that needs to be seen to be enjoyed. Many tourists make it a favorite destination when they’re in Sydney, just as you might go to the Eiffel Tower in Paris or the Empire State Building in New York. It’s a national icon and Australians are proud of it, as they should be.
